Sentimental Saturday Music Playlist

Music is a huge part of my creative process, whether it is grooving in the car thinking up new ideas or playing the same songs over and over to catch a mood for a particular scene. Sometimes I obsess on a song for weeks at a time. With time being such a precious commodity, music shortcuts the time for me to get in “the writing zone.”

I’ll be updating my playlist on Saturdays.

Obsessing on “Let Me Back In” by Rilo Kiley
Listening to “First Day of My Life” Bright Eyes
“Butterfly Nets” by Bishop Allen is on my playlist
Just added “Out of My League” by Fitz & the Tantrums

Maybe it’s the change in the weather, but I’ve been in a sentimental frame of mind.

I have “my little technique” of starting with slow tracks and gradually increase the tempo of further songs (of course it almost never works xD) to get me out of sentimental state (I like my hypomanic states ;))

In those times I like The Greenhornes – “Shelter of your arms”; Metronomy with “We broke free”, the whole “Rome” album by Danger Mouse and Danielle Luppi featuring Jack White and Norah Jones and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs “Fever to tell” album to get that little more pumped up attitude ;)

Sentimental isn’t a bad thing, as long as you don’t let it linger. I’ve just found myself in a reflective state of mind lately.

Great songs btw, I’ll add them to my playlist this week.

Well, I’m not stating definitively that “sentimental” is bad, but I really don’t like those times when I feel it ;) Maybe my states are bit more extreme than “normal” people so I may have more extreme view on “those times”.
