Sunday Music Playlist

Music is a huge part of my creative process, whether it is grooving in the car thinking up new ideas or playing the same songs over and over to catch a mood for a particular scene. Sometimes I obsess on a song for weeks at a time. With time being such a precious commodity, music shortcuts the time for me to get in “the writing zone.”

I’ll be updating my playlist on Saturdays. (Well, usually on Saturdays)

April 28, 2013

First, Eric John Baker’s band Full Blown Cranium has released their first single “She’s Only Happy When She’s Feeling Miserable,” which you can check out on his site here.

Obsessing on “Lonesome Dreams” by Lord Huron
“Entertainment” by Phoenix is on my playlist
Listening to “Endless Sun” by Money Go Round
Also loving CHVRCHES’ tune “Recover”
Enjoying “Trust Me…I’m a Genius” by The Family Rain
“Light Eyes” by SISU is also on my playlist
Just added “So Red” by Snowden
Also listening to Kitten’s “Cut It Out” (two thumbs up :D )

I had a rockin’ Saturday yesterday, so I didn’t find the computer. Better late than never, right? ;) There’s a good mix between guys and gals this week, which I don’t usually manage. Enjoy this week’s indie rock faves. :P

Thanks for sharing your playlist. I will have to include those in my rotation.
Most of my writing is done in a coffee shop. I know its cliche but I need a stimulating atmosphere, no pun intended. The music at the coffee shops I hang out at tend to be driven by the barristas and if it’s not working for me I have some playlists that contain Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, Corinne Bailey Rae, The Decemberists , Sting and Daniel Lanois. Pretty mellow stuff. If I am in pure edit mode then I need something more upbeat. Jet, Young The Giant, Group Love among others work for me.
