Saturday Music Playlist

Music is a huge part of my creative process, whether it is grooving in the car thinking up new ideas or playing the same songs over and over to catch a mood for a particular scene. Sometimes I obsess on a song for weeks at a time. With time being such a precious commodity, music shortcuts the time for me to get in “the writing zone.”

I’ll be updating my playlist on Saturdays.

Obsessing on the new Daft Punk album
“Bug Don’t Buzz” by “Majical Cloudz” is on my playlist
Listening to “A Dancing Shell” by Wild Nothing
Also loving “Make It to Me” by Grouplove and Manchester Orchestra
Enjoying “Too Fast for Love” by Them Swoops

Everyone in the US, enjoy your holiday weekend! Everyone else, enjoy your regularly scheduled weekend.

We must be on the same wavelengths! I just wrote a post about ‘what is a writer’ which included how I strongly believe that music (and humour) are the quickest ways to reach a creative, open and child-like state of mind. Plus, it is fun!

Agreed, music and writing are fun!! Is there any music that is inspiring your writing recently?

Yes, actually two separate artists at the moment. One is The Whitlams version of Bob Dylan’s ‘Tangled Up In Blue’. The other is actually my partner who lives overseas. His name is Olaf Made and his music ignites some kind of mysterious wonder in me. He is on Reverb Nation if you want to see what I mean. My interests vary from Foo Fighters, The White Stripes to Leonard Cohen and Paul Kelly. It just depends what I feel like and what I am writing.

I obsess over MS MR when I’m writing – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brJozYDT0Ts I’m yet to check out the new Daft Punk album – it’s on my to-do list this week!

Here’s a tune that would get the scenes flowing in the writers noggin.

Oh the new Daft Punk album.. It makes me feel ambivalent… xD Cool funky tunes, sure. But as a whole it is soo “smooth”, sweet and pop/easy. I know easy listening is hard to make, but come on – it is Daft Punk, where are the banging tunes, where are timeless sounds?

Well I enjoy getting lucky and I can easily see how this album is getting popular around the world, but I personally won’t listen it one more time… It supposed to be harder, better, faster, stronger. Da funk just happened to their aerodynamic style? Are they human after all? They were my superheroes and now I don’t really know if this steam machine is still alive…

    xDDDDDD

The album is a bit different, I agree, but I still enjoy the musicality of it. I’m sorry your super heroes have disappointed you. I’ve felt that way about some other bands when I feel like their sound has become too mainstream.

I made it a bit more dramatic than I feel it is, but I had to use all of my favorite titles from their discography, hence the superhero denial ;)

But yeah, somehow it bugs me that they became that mainstream… It shouldn’t, because I wish them nothing but millions of dollars, fame and success, but somehow it does. ;) Am I bad person now? xD

Yes, you are terribly clever, but that doesnt make you a terrible person. ;)

Terribly seems like appropriate adjective xD Thank you very much, you’re far too kind :)

I remind me of HAL in Odyssey 2001 xD

Hi. Have you ever listened to the music I’m reviewing in my blog? My reviews are oriented on alternative and Internet music; take a look if you want.

I think Daft Punk have lost lots of style with the last album.
