Happy Holiday Weekend

Been an amazing weekend so far.  I managed to get some sun on my shoulders, and I’m no longer worried about blinding people with the whiteness of my legs.  I have vanquished the tone of my Medusa-like skin.  xD

We’ve had perfect weather in ATL this weekend.  Went to the park with Sweetpea, made a trip to Target, and played with water, chalk, three kinds of bubbles, screwdrivers, shoes, bottles, push carts, riding cars, the stroller, and the dog… and that’s just the stuff we did outside!  Needless to say, my daughter has been very busy.

Here’s Sweetpea doing some power training.  She has to work on her muscle tone, so we add stuff from the pantry to her carts when she is pushing her bunny doll around.  She wanted to open the chicken broth afterwards, and I had to explain to her that chicken juice didn’t taste good.  She accepted milk and a banana as a reasonable substitute.

I also got four pages written long-hand today, so I figure that’s around 1200 words.  I don’t usually worry about word count, but I need to up my writing output.  I haven’t been performing up to my expectations now that I have wrapped up grad school.  There’s so much I want to write about Rivenloss, but I haven’t been working as hard on it as I could on my steampunk stories.

Sorry this post is on the light side, but I’m going to aim to get more words on the page before I turn into a pumpkin at midnight.  :D  That’s right, I’m the princess in my own fairytale.  ;)  Just remember to not burn the burgers or your noses during your Monday holiday tomorrow.

I’m with you on the writing mojo thing. It comes and goes.

Thanks for reminding me of that. It’s hard to not feel like the waxing and waning of my productivity is always “all my fault.” I will improve my “butt-in-chair-ness” this week though. Here’s hoping for some productive lunches. ;)

You have a lot going on in your life right now. We can’t be “on” all the time. I have to remind myself of this every day.

Maybe it would help to focus on pages done instead of word count. A page is bigger, so getting more of them done feels like an easier task and feels like you’ve made more progress. At least to me, so take this with a grain of salt.

Focusing on pages does help, especially on those dialogue-heavy scenes. There might not be as many words on the page, but the effort is at least the same. I got two more pages written during Sweetpea’s nap, so I’ll have to consider that good enough for my holiday. Thanks for the encouragement!

Is the duck sauce for the burgers or the burned noses? :p

It sounds like a lovely and peaceful weekend. Congrats on getting some writing done, too!

Yes, it was a wonderful weekend. I have high hopes for this weekend too (both in terms of fun with my daughter as well as some Dreamless City productivity). :D

Definitely something in the air, because I’m also feeling as if my writing’s been kicked up a notch or twelve over the past couple of weeks. I’d like to chalk that up to spring being here, which is definitely the case, but spring also brings about my being in a more manic phase, which is great for my creativity, but makes me a bit (well, more of a bit) of a pain in the ass to be around. Yay!

And so what if this post is on the light side? More light side, I say! More cute stories about Sweetpea!

Maybe there’s the slightest hint of crack in the pollen. That could be what’s in the air. xD Kidding aside, I’m glad you’ve been kicking it up a dozen notches recently. :D Here’s hoping for another productive week!
