Thousand Words Before Breakfast

I’m feeling the need to brag on myself a bit today, and for the last few days too.  As I mentioned not too long ago, writing while under the influence of pregnancy has been a challenge.  However, this late term pregnancy induced insomnia has turned out to be a good time for me to get a few words on the page.

The last few days have been great in that respect.  I’ve been able to churn out a thousand words before the rest of the household wakes up.  This makes me feel a bit more productive, something that I’ve been fretting about for the last few months.  I feel like that writers are people who write every day.  So if I am not writing every day, then what does that make me?

Thing Two is still firmly lodged like a cannonball in my navel.  Really, considering how eager Sweetpea was to join the party, I would have expected similar things from her sibling.  But I guess this shows that even from the beginning how different two kids can be.  /sigh

Another fun thing that this pregnancy thing has done for me is made me grumpy, which is wonderful for writing dialogue.  I want to argue with everyone, apparently even myself.  I find that I write the best dialogue when I have characters with different goals, and they aren’t shy about looking out for numero uno.  Being grumpy means that I’m not letting anyone slide with some half-assed conversation, even myself. Bad attitude or not, I’ll be showing up tomorrow morning for another serving of doughnuts and dialogue.

And on a more warm and fuzzy note, here’s some music I hope you’ll enjoy! ;)

As always, Tracy, I marvel at your ability to make me feel like a slacker. You continue to impress me.

Hah! I assure you, I don’t have it all together, especially as I am begging Thing Two to find the escape pod and leave the mother ship. I know that I only have days and hours before my schedule will radically change, so I’m trying to make the most of this time.

You do amazing things with your time too. I’m still knitting the same cable knit scarf from 2012. ;)
