Adding a Character Slot to My Family

My son was born a couple weeks ago, adding a character slot to my family (to use some videogame lingo). Everything went smoothly, and everyone is happy and healthy at home. Compared to my daughter, the new baby is so much easier to manage… other than being a cute and cuddly face attached to a bottomless stomach. They tell me he will be like this in high school too. :P

I don’t share many pics of my family, but I am pretty happy with how Ace turned out.

My daughter Sweetpea adores her baby brother Ace. She is three years old and so excited to be a big sister. She gets so excited when the baby wakes up and cries because she can give him a kiss and help change his diaper. The rest of us aren’t nearly so excited when the crying starts.

Writing has been spotty the last few days.  I’m not going to pretend that I got any words on the page the first two weeks home.  Now that our schedule is more regular (if you consider eating 24/7 as “regular”), I’ve been getting a paragraph down here and there.  Every little bit helps, and I’m trying to not be to hard on myself.

Also, I wanted to share an amusing list about parenting by published author (and good friend) M.J. Pullen. Becoming a parenting pro isn’t exactly what I thought it would be, but as long as you can laugh about doing a lot of laundry, being a parent is still pretty good.

Looking forward to more adventures to come.

Aw bless him. That takes me back. My lad is now five, was totally relaxed, unbelievably relaxed as a baby, actually but a horrendously finniky eater. Loves his food now but still is.

Looks to me like you spent the better part of a year creating a masterpiece. Time well spent, I think.

Beautiful baby. Yeah boys are good if fed and dry.

What an absolute doll Ace is! I could eat him up. But you’d probably find that upsetting. :) Thanks for the blog shout out!
