Happy February everyone! In a few days I’m going to be a year older, though I’m not sure if I’ll be any wiser. Maybe that’s some crazy kind of wisdom in and of itself, right?
I have a few projects that I’m working on — short stories, novels, solving global hunger, and registering my son for preschool. My brain is a big jumble right now, swinging back and forth between fiction and non-fiction projects. Yeah, you heard me, I’m adding non-fiction into the craziness. I might need some beta readers in a few weeks, so stay tuned for that.
I’m trying out some new things in 2015 (and I’ll be sure to report back with how they fare). Over the last few weeks, the Universe has been throwing Wattpad in my path, so I finally decided to check it out.
I am posting on Wattpad my short story Owl Eyes, which I had originally titled Under the Hallowed Tree when I rocked it in Write Club Fight Club. (I changed the name because I fell in love with this premade book cover and the longer title didn’t look so hot.) This story also was an Honorable Mention in the 2014 Writers of the Future contest.
Party girl Jenna is abandoned at a gas station when a dime-sized owl, complete with flapping wings, shows up in her eye. She is picked up by a tattooed man on a motorcycle and starts having strange visions involving the murder of a woman Jenna resembles. It is an urban fantasy short story of love and revenge revealed under the hallowed branches of Blackbird Hill.
I almost don’t want to tell you who made this cover because there are some other ones on his site that I want to snag. If you are in the market for book covers, check out Rocking Book Covers. Great covers, super professional, and very responsive.
I also have another story up at Write Club Fight Club called Shadylawn Support Group for Witches and Warlocks. Check it out and please let me know what you think.
