Looking to the Horizon

It’s a bit of a crazy time, not gonna lie. Working from home is tough, and homeschooling is tough, but my family has their health and I have my job, so no complaints here. Wishing everyone the best they can manage during these strange days.

Getting started on another week. Lots of planning going on, and lots of projects in progress. I’ve got some short story submissions on my radar, a couple of which are coming up soon:

  1. 5k word story celebrating creative inspiration. This is for a scholarship anthology for my favorite writing tribe. I have the story outlined, just need to get it written by 4/25… No rush, right?
  2. 5-10k word contemporary story about men in uniform. I know, it immediately brings a smile to my face too. ;) Again, got the outline done, but I’ve got until 5/15 to get this one completed.
  3. Book in progress, would like to have it wrapped up by the end of April if possible. I don’t have a hard deadline on this, so I’m being flexible. Work and life could take an unexpected turn, so I’ll just keep putting up as many words as I can each day.

So that’s it. Nothing wild and crazy. I think this is achievable. Let’s see if the plan survives contact with the enemy, aka life. Happy writing!

For anyone who is a writer or an aspiring writer, I’ll leave you with this quote:

“10 Steps to Becoming a Better Writer

Write more.
Write even more.
Write even more than that.
Write when you don’t want to.
Write when you do.
Write when you have something to say.
Write when you don’t.
Write every day.
Keep writing.”
